CONTEMPORARY ART EXHIBITION "THE MEDIATOR”

"The Mediator" is a continuation of a series of exhibitions in which the main character is the WORD. Word, text, letter. In this exhibition, the project is transformed into a new form: we consider the role of the artist as a mediator, a conductor; as a concept and as a tool to extract the meanings inherent in the social context and manifested in the form of works of art. This is not a Declaration and not the final sentence objects; they suggest development."–Michael Roshnyak, artist, curator of the exhibition "the Mediator", "PoE:PS or words to tell", "Poetives or stichometry of our epoque»

The element of color is the painting of verse.

And through me to the moon slide

The painted letter jumped…

(V. Mayakovsky)

If we consider the words "artist" and "poet" in the broadest sense of the word, they characterize the creative rethinking of reality. In a narrow sense, the artist creates in the field of images, lines and forms; the poet – in the space of speech and in the element of language.

The visual and spatial expansion of the oral component of the text has a very ancient history. In Ancient Hellas and Rome the poets wrote calligramme (lyrics-pictures), building with verses some bizarre shapes. Francois Rabelais wrote poetry in the form of a bottle. Simeon Polotsky, Sumarokov, Derzhavin, and Russian symbolists also used the same concept.

At a fundamentally new level, the futurists approached to the unification of poetry, graphics and painting. The poet Velimir Khlebnikov appeals artists of the world to develop a new alphabet and set out his own vision of some letters. Together with Alexei Kruchenykh, David Burliuk and Vladimir Mayakovsky, he invited avant-garde artists such as Mikhail Larionov and Natalia Goncharova to "paint" some poems, turning them into paintings. Russian futurist poet Vasily Kamensky created " Ferroconcrete poems", using words as bricks for the construction of graphic objects.

The exhibition "The Mediator" – is an additional step to the synthesis of arts. In the cycle of exhibition projects, where the main actors are the Letter, the Word and the Text, the works of artists are a bubbling creative fusion of poetry and painting. These are not just pictorial illustrations of poems, and not even poetic description to paintings, but a single creative burning, in which the word causes an explosion of colorfull waves, the sound continues as a line, the range of colors provokes fresh rhythms and rhymes, the graphic symbol initiates new syllables.
