"Laziness - mother of vices" - this is how the mankind stigmatized the special action of human. It always seemed to me that this accusation of laziness was unfair. Why the labor is so praised and elevated to the throne of greatness of glory, and laziness is nailed to the pillar of shame ... It always seemed to me that everything should be in the contrary: labor should be damned, like the legends about paradise, and laziness should be what a person should strive for. But in real life it turned out the opposite. I’d like to find out this opposite ... ”

Kazimir Malevich
1921 Vitebsk X

The exhibition is based on the theoretical work of Kazimir Malevich, “Laziness as the Truth of mankind,” written in Vitebsk in 1921. But modern authors from Moscow, Ufa, Milan and Berlin have their absolutely own point of view about this phenomenon. The artists and curators of the project do not at all accidentally reflect in a simple and accessible form about the "traditional Russian phenomenon", which is probably inherent not only to Russians. Both Pushkin and Gogol and of course Goncharov wrote about laziness. Our task is to conduct research using modern art tools, and the theoretical work of Kazimir Malevich became our roadmap.

This is a total multimedia installation, immersing the spectator into the sensual world of masterpieces created by great artists. The images are projected on huge screens and on the floor as well. The total area of the projection is about 1200 sq. m.
